The Race to Fight Night III

With Fight Night one week away, our fighters here at Work Train Fight are going through their last few training sessions, ensuring their game is tight, their nerves are in check, and that they are ready for action. We’re checking in to see how they’re doing:

How have you been been preparing for the fight? Describe your training.

“I’ve been doing 2-a-day workouts 3-4 times a week. And I’ve been working with Amber on nutrition for months, but we’ve really altered my eating over the last 6 weeks. Extra workouts and cutting carbs at the same time is tougher than the workouts themselves.”
– LACEY GARNETT

“I’m trying to train as much as possible. Sparring frequently, conditioning and weekly physical therapy!”

– SONIA “BULLDOG” LANGLOTZ

“I have been training with Freddie two times a week, plus sparring and my own workout regimen of cardio, conditioning and technique development three to four times a week. I’ve also been on a strict diet of protein (fish/seafood), fresh fruits and vegetables. No processed or fried foods, dairy, or carbs. Essentially nothing fun.”

– ROXANA “LA LOBA” GONZALEZ

“I’ve also been asking every trainer who fights for advice on dealing with nerves and how best to counter certain actions.”

– STEFANIE “SNOWFLAKE” MACCARONE

“I had to put my weight training on the back burner and stop heavy lifting and focus on more explosive movements like kettle bell swings, snatches, cleans, and running. Alex really put me through the ringer. I’ve trained 6 days a week with 1.5 hour sessions. My sessions with Alex include technical drills and sparring along with that awful SkillMill. I love/hate that thing.”

– AMBER “FABULOUS AF” TREJO

How do you feel leading up to the fight?

“I’m pretty calm, I’m just tired from training. The hardest part is being consistent every day. Cardio sucks!”

– CHRIS “MCFLURRY” SEALEY

“I’m most excited about facing a fear and cheering on my friends who are fighting, too. The WTF females are badass.”

– STEFANIE “SNOWFLAKE” MACCARONE

“I’m excited because this is a new chapter in my life. I’ve been running for years, and now, I’m boxing. To be honest, I feel a little old to be starting out in boxing. But I’m in better shape than I was in my 20s.”
– LACEY GARNETT

“I’m most nervous about making weight since I’ve had to shed about 12 pounds. It’s really hard to lose weight while also strengthening your muscles. I’ve been very disciplined with my diet which leads me to the thing I’m most excited about: eating normally again. I have missed pizza dearly.”
– ROXANA “LA LOBA” GONZALEZ

“I feel pretty comfortable and confident. I’m nervous about the amount of people that will be there but I’m excited to be able to execute everything I’ve been practicing.”

– EVAN “SOFRITO” ZOUGHY

“Usually I don’t feel nervous until a day or two before the fight. I am not nervous for the fight itself but I am nervous because I want to perform well and always be better than my previous fights. It’s exciting to fight at home, at WTF, where I’ve grown into the fighter I am currently.”
– JOSH “KID SLICK” CHRISTIAN

“I feel great! December marks my 3rd year working at WTF and this will be a great way to celebrate. I always try to do things that are outside my comfort zone, especially things that scare me, because that’s how you grow.”
– AMBER “FABULOUS AF” TREJO
